The Future Laboratory has been an important client of ours for many years. When they asked us to help them realize their vision of what eventually would become to the new LS:NGlobal, coupled with the classic design brought to them by top flight London design firm, MadeThought, we were excited. We had already worked with MadeThought to produce the Future Lab's corporate site and knew the team dyanmic was a good fit. It was our pleasure to once again endeavor on a trip to marry print aesthetics with web technology.
Using cutting edge appoaches to creating an intuitive content management system was crucial to this process. Given that there will be a wide variety of contributors to this site that have backgrounds in print, and not necessarily web publishing, keeping things simple and logical was more or less a mandate. We believe we achieved that and then some. This will allow LS:NGlobal to be more nimble-footed in its market place, which, in turn, will generate more premium subscriptions, and ultimately, more revenue for The Future Laboratory.
"Going into this I knew Special Machine had to be a part of bringing our ideas for LS:N to life. In short, they made it happen - and they can see the Matrix." - Martin Farrington, LS:NGlobal Manager

31E Cellular Ltd. came to Special Machine with only 10 days to design and build a first class web presence. As they made their push to go public on the stock exchange, they needed a design and functionality that would represent their business in an accurate and stylish manner. With the prying eyes of potential investors as our target market, we took up our task.
Given the nature of 31E's core business, we focused on creating a sleek, yet functional web site utilizing existing branding materials. Easy on the eyes and packed with information, the navigation architecture and images were created from scratch to fit in as naturally as possible with the look and feel of the overall web presence.
"We said, 'We have 10 days to design, build, and launch this web site. It's crucial to our business. Can you help us?' I'd say they did that and then some." - Richard Scott, 31E

Tom Schlesinger is a screenwriting guru with a heavy list of clients. It was an honor to have him ask us to create a web site for his screenwriting seminars. His basic need was to communicate his talents as an artist and teacher to a group of prospects on an ongoing basis. His site would need to be easily updatable and possess certain technologies that would make the process of administering his seminars more "on the fly".
The web solution we provided Tom boasts a technological prowess that affords him a high degree of control over the administration of his seminars. If he has access to the Internet, Tom can accept new clients, send out invoices and stay in touch with all of his clients. The seamless integration of this technology not only allows Tom to do his job in a more efficient fashion, it also gives him more time to enjoy his day.
"The people at Special Machine Media had the intuitive skills to quickly understand what I needed in a web page, the artistic skills to create a design that not only works for me but has gotten hugely positive feedback from my new clients, and the relationship skills to move through the whole technical process with patience and humor. Working with them is fun, enjoyable and in the end, profitable." - Tom Schlesinger, writingfilms.com

Dashiell Rae was envious of the growing work-from-home movement and wanted to get on board. Not only would it afford her the possibility to work in the comfort of familiar surroundings, but the lack unneccesary office space and on-site costs normally associated with her profession would save her clients 10's of thouands of dollars. This, she thought, could only make her services all the more desirable.
Utilizing the skill of our seasoned development staff, Special Machine created a custom application for Dashiell that allowed her site and FTP server to work in tandem and controlled by the client. She could simultaneously monitor all activitiy and provide real-time support simply by logging into her site.
I knew what I wanted, but I didn't really understand how it was going happen. I knew one thing, and that was that if it worked, it would be the answer to my prayers. Guess what? It worked.

Located just down the street from our German office in Karlsruhe, Coppa is one of our favorite places to have a few cocktails after a week of serving the needs of our clients. One evening while having a chat with the owner, the subject of web sites came up. We mentioned that he could use a better one, and to that he said, show me what you've got.
Coppa is a very laid back environment with hushed candlelight, stylish brushed copper covering an entire wall (hence the name), comfy red sofas and other hideaway spots where you can have a nice conversation with friends, or just take in some cool sounds and enjoy your tasty drink. It's a place where you don't have to be someone to enjoy yourself, rather an organic feeling lounge where you can come as you are. It was especially important to us that we try to reflect the atmosphere of Coppa in the web site itself.
"What we had before was simply a brochure online where people could jot down our phone number. Thanks to my neighbors at Special Machine Media, we now have a very chill web site that has received considerable feedback from our clientele. The homepage just makes people thirsty - and what else could I ask for?" - Rassen Houssi, Owner
